Personal Finance Summary
This year has taught me a lot, but there is always more to learn. The most important thing that I learned in this class would have be be about insurance and budget. Before I started this class, I didn't know what avenue to take, and I hadn't really thought about this at all. I learned about how much insurance actually costs, and what I should include in my budget. I think that this class has been really important for me and has taught me so many things that I will use in my real life. Most classes tend to teach you things that you will never use, but I learned anything from insurance and budget, investing, taxes, checking accounts, credit cards, debit cards, as well as retirement plans. While I doubt I will remember everything in 5 years, I will still take a lot out of this class. Knowing what I should do for my retirement is another big thing that I learned. I plan on starting a plan soon so that I can build it up over time with compound interest and continual deposits. That way, I will have money for when I retire, especially since all the social security money will be gone by time it reaches me. I think that another important thing I learned was how to do my taxes. I have always thought about taxes, and I didn’t know how to do them because I had never been shown before, and I know that if I was to go out in the world today, I would need to know how to do my taxes, but then there is still no class that is a requirement that will teach you this stuff. I honestly believe that this class should be required, as you need to know the things taught in this class, but I feel it isn’t because everyone thinks that the parents will show them, but the parents expect the school to show them, so they end up all by themselves. Investing is something that I have always been interested in, as I wanted to invest in stocks, and still do. I learned about the different ways that I can invest, and now I know what I should invest in based on my situation, and making the right decision is critical, as money isn’t something that grows on trees, and there’s a lot of money to be made in this area.
